Wind Symphony
The Wind Symphony is the premier wind band at Los Alamitos High School. This ensemble offers a formal and refined pathway to master the art of wind band music performance. Students will engage in performance based activities, music appreciation/history topics, and music theory based concepts at the highest level. Students are expected to practice regularly, seek outside help on their instrument, and draw on previous experiences to perform their best.
This ensemble will have on and off-campus performances to further develop real-world music skills. Performance locations include SCSBOA Festivals, theme parks (Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal, etc), and world-renowned universities.
Ensemble admittance is by audition only.
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is an intermediate concert band offered to all instrumental music students. This class establishes a fundamental understanding of wind band music through performance and discussion. Students will engage in performance-based activities, music appreciation/history topics, and music theory-based concepts. It will help students looking to learn a new instrument and will serve as a springboard into the more advanced instrumental music ensembles, such as Wind Symphony.
This ensemble will have on and off-campus performances to further develop real-world music skills. Performance locations include SCSBOA Festivals, theme parks (Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal, etc), and world-renowned universities.
This course is mandatory for all incoming 9th and 10th-grade students playing a wind instrument but is open to all.
